Over the years the team here at PJ Downs has come across many loads that often require Route Planning, Surveys, Escorts, and quite often Police Escorts. All of these are areas we’re now very skilled in, and often do when working with Abnormal Loads. Many other firms in the industry also entrust us to help with the movement of many abnormal loads, ensuring they get to the destination safely.

Here at PJ Downs, we always make sure all necessary movement orders and any other needed paperwork is always acquired, often liaising with multiple different Police counties, highways, bridge authorities, etc. Planning and preparation are a big part when moving abnormal loads, but with our detailed knowledge, it’s never an issue for us here at PJ Downs & Sons, all of our pilot cars are also “Code of Practice” compliant.

Our Pilot Cars, are the most up-to-date vehicles, fully kitted out with hi-visibility chevron markings ( rear and side ), and flashing lights. Also equipped with a mobile phone with a fully hands-free device fitted, as well as CB radios. Driver comfort is also a big thing we pride ourselves on here at PJ Downs , equipping our vehicles with many optional extras such as Fridge, Microwave, TV, Bed, Night-Heater, etc.

Most of the team here at PJ Downs, have also moved many Abnormal Loads, with most of us having category C+E licenses, so we understand the challenges you take on with abnormal loads, and can easily work well with other drivers to assist in the movement of loads!
